Main Bearing Monitoring System Retrofit - Containerships
Project Details
MJR Controls were awarded a 4 ship turnkey design, manufacture, installation and commissioning contract to retrofit Main Engine Bearing Monitoring & Protection Equipment for Andrew Weir Shipping's "River" class fleet.
One of the main criteria was to install the systems with the vessels in service with no disruption to operating schedule. This difficult project was successfully achieved within time and to budget.
MJR services included:
- Specification, design and drawing package for class approval.
- Equipment design and supply including bearing sensors, protection pockets and connection rails.
- Electrical installation of the equipment.
- Mechanical installation of sensors and pockets with the vessel in service including entablature boring for cable penetrations.
- Commissioning.
